Privacy Policy

Summary
JSONKit does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any JSON data, JWT tokens, or files you process using our standard tools. All that data processing happens locally in your browser and never reaches our servers. We collect only anonymous, aggregate usage statistics — no personally identifiable information is ever gathered.
The one exception is our optional AI-powered tools, which send the text you choose to submit to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. This is explained in the AI-Powered Tools section below.
Data We Do Not Collect
The following is processed entirely inside your browser and is never sent to JSONKit or any third party (the only exception is the optional AI-powered tools described in the next section):
- ✓JSON data you paste or type into any tool
- ✓JWT tokens you decode or inspect
- ✓Files you open or upload to the editor
- ✓The output of any conversion, formatting, or diff operation
- ✓Credentials, API keys, tokens, or secrets in your data
AI-Powered Tools
Most JSONKit tools run entirely on your device. The exception is our AI features — the AI JSON Assistant, AI Regex Generator, AI SQL Generator, AI Mock Data Generator and AI Cron Generator. To produce a response, these tools send the text you submit to our server, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider. In detail:
- •Only the input you actively submit — by pressing Generate or Run — is sent. Nothing is transmitted as you type.
- •Your request passes through our server on its way to the AI provider. We do not log or persist your input or the AI's response — our server only keeps a short-lived, one-way hashed rate-limiting key (computed from your IP and browser, but not reversible back to them) in memory to prevent abuse; your raw IP address itself is never stored.
- •The AI provider processes your input under its own terms solely to generate the response; your input is not used by JSONKit to train any model.
- •Because your input leaves your browser, never paste passwords, API keys, tokens, secrets or sensitive production data into an AI tool. Use the local-only tools (for example the rule-based JSON Fixer) for that.
Every AI tool is clearly labelled as such, and using it is entirely optional. All non-AI JSONKit tools remain 100% local.
What We Store in Your Browser
JSONKit saves a small amount of data to your browser's local storage to improve your experience across sessions. This data stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- •Your selected colour theme (Light, Dark, Dracula, Monokai, Nord, GitHub Dark)
- •Your last input on each tool page — so you can return to where you left off
You can clear this data at any time using the Clear button on any tool page, or by clearing your browser's site data from your browser settings.
Browser Extension
The JSONKit browser extension (Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers) follows the same policy described above, with these extension-specific details:
- ✓The extension makes zero network requests of its own and includes no analytics — the Usage Statistics section below does not apply to it.
- ✓Its content script runs on http(s) and local file pages to check whether the page is raw JSON; it only activates and reformats the page when that check succeeds, and never reads, stores, or transmits page content anywhere. Broad site access is required only because a JSON API response can appear on any domain.
- ✓Local storage (kept only in your browser, never synced or transmitted anywhere) includes: your last workbench input, up to 8 recent successfully-processed inputs, your theme and font size, and whether you've dismissed the one-time tip banner.
- ✓The DevTools panel and page viewer only display JSON your browser already received over the network as part of your normal browsing — the extension does not initiate any requests of its own.
Usage Statistics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous, aggregate statistics that help us understand how JSONKit is used and how to improve it. This data does not identify you personally and includes only:
- •Page views and tool usage counts
- •General geographic region (country level only — never city or precise location)
- •Browser type and operating system
- •Approximate session duration
To measure usage, Google Analytics for Firebase may store a randomized identifier in your browser to distinguish sessions and devices. We never link this identifier to the content you process, and we never sell or share your usage data with advertisers. This analytics data is processed by Google on our behalf and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using a browser extension or by clearing your browser's site data.
Cookies
JSONKit does not use advertising or marketing cookies. We use Google Analytics for Firebase for anonymous usage measurement, which may set first-party analytics cookies or store a randomized identifier in your browser to distinguish sessions and devices. We may also set strictly functional storage required for basic site operation. You can disable or clear cookies at any time from your browser settings — or opt out of Google Analytics — without affecting your ability to use any tool.
Data Retention
JSONKit does not retain any of your tool input or output data. Preferences and inputs saved to your browser's local storage remain entirely on your device and under your control. Anonymous usage statistics are retained for a limited period solely to analyse usage trends and improve the service.
Children
JSONKit is a developer tool intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example when we add new tools or change how the service operates. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of JSONKit after a policy update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
